Steve Linacre, a top master of art knives in the American Bladesmith Society, entirely handcrafted this piece. Steve, a renowned artist, won numerous awards and earned the title of “The King of Spine Decoration”. Sadly, he passed away in 2011, making his knives extremely hard to obtain.
Steve’s knife designs were modern and avant-garde, and his workmanship was exquisite. He once crafted famous knives for the Hollywood movie “The Long Kiss Goodnight”. The Illusory Dragon Blade is about 24.5 centimeters in overall length, with a blade length of around 12.3 centimeters. It features a beautifully polished mirror blade. Nearly two-thirds of the front area of the blade spine is sharpened, making it extremely sharp. It comes with a handle made of gold mother-of-pearl, which has a gorgeous and colorful luster. At both ends of the handle, there are titanium alloy inlays. The surface of these inlays has been neatly wire-brushed and polished, and the sides have been gloriously colored with a purplish-red heat treatment.
On the side of the tang, there is the signature spine decoration. Steve also placed an aluminum alloy spacer with spine decoration between the mother-of-pearl and the tang. He heat-treated it with coloring, which presented an extremely intricate and exquisite craftsmanship that was so profound and hard to surpass. In this way, his work truly lived up to the reputation of “The King of Spine Decoration”.
