Knife knowledge sharing: Excalibur

Buster Warenski, an AKI (American Knifemakers’ Guild) knifemaker, is the most renowned knifemaker in South Africa. His invention of the dragon scale Damascus steel has made him widely known. Besides that, he is also good at crafting various types of swords and knives, including artistic daggers and exquisite folding knives. Buster has won many important awards at international exhibitions, and his works are highly recognizable. This particular piece features an original sword design by Buster. It uses two of his patented Damascus steel patterns – the dragon scale Damascus and the nebula Damascus – with the laminated steel line running straight to the tip of the sword. We make the handle out of Picasso stone, while we make the guard and pommel from titanium alloy and give them an anodized finish.
