One of the World’s Famous Knives – Michael Burch

Michael Burch was born in 1978 and grew up on a wild land in southern Missouri. After graduating from high school, he joined the Marine Corps and served there. After being discharged from the military, he went on to study in college. Upon graduation, he wrote promotional plans for a large outdoor products company in the United States. The tedious paperwork made him feel extremely stressed. In 2007, unable to bear it any longer, Michael resigned and became a full-time knife maker.

Since childhood, Michael had a unique interest in the design of oriental knives and the technique of clay tempering, which laid the foundation for his knife-making style.

Most of his knives are made of 1095 and W-2 carbon steel in addition to stainless steel and Damascus steel. The blades are treated with clay tempering, and his personal logo, a snake’s head in a biting position, is usually engraved on the side of the blade, which is quite distinctive. Since most of them are handcrafted custom knives, they are also rather pricey.
