One of the World’s Famous Knives – SOG The name “SOG” (Studies and Observation Group) originated from the Vietnam War. It was a special forces unit belonging to the U.S. Marine Corps. During the Vietnam War, this elite unit only carried out the toughest and most dangerous special missions. The prototype of the SOG knife came from the knives used by this combat unit, which was a type of Bowie knife.
